AP and ERP Integration
With Bill Ready, Nectar delivers each validated utility bill to your AP or ERP system as a coded payable, with the bill image, remittance details, due date, amount, and GL, cost center, site, and entity coding, plus optional accrual entries. Your team keeps approving and paying bills as usual.

Utility bills are a poor fit for an accounts-payable queue that expects a vendor invoice with one amount and one code. A single PDF can cover several meters, a prior balance, a deposit, and taxes, and the coding differs by site and entity. Teams that key those bills by hand from portals and email spend the close rebuilding what the bill already contained.
With Bill Ready, Nectar delivers each validated bill to your AP or ERP system as a coded payable: bill image, remittance details, due date, amount, and the GL, cost center, site, and entity from your coding map. Optional accrual entries cover bills that have not arrived. Your team still approves and pays. For teams that want Nectar to pay US utility accounts, that is Bill Pay, through regulated payment partners.
Challenge
AP teams key utility bills by hand from PDFs and portals.
Solution
Each bill arrives in your AP or ERP system already parsed, validated, and coded from your coding map, so AP approves rather than re-enters it.
Challenge
Utility bills are coded inconsistently across sites and entities.
Solution
A single coding map assigns GL, cost center, site, and entity to every account, and changes are logged. Standard connections cover SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, Coupa, and Bill.com, with flat file, SFTP, or API for other systems.
Challenge
Month-end accruals are estimated from last month’s bills.
Solution
Accrual entries for bills not yet received are delivered with each cycle. For teams that want Nectar to pay, Bill Pay covers US utility accounts through regulated payment partners.
One coding map for every account
A coding map assigns GL, cost center, site, and entity to each account, and changes to the map are logged. Standard connections cover SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, Coupa, and Bill.com. Other systems take a flat file, SFTP, or the API, using the same coded bill.
The payable includes the bill image and the remittance detail, so an approver can see the source without opening a portal. Amounts that failed validation are not delivered as if they were ready to pay.
Accruals from the bills you do not have yet
Accrual entries for bills not yet received go out with the cycle, based on the account history rather than a copy of last month’s total. When the bill arrives, the payable replaces the accrual instead of sitting beside it.
The same validated bill is what sustainability, energy, and finance report from. AP does not keep a second set of totals that has to be reconciled back to the meter data at the end of the quarter.

Carbon accounting requires accurate utility data collection
Carbon accounting has 3 steps: data collection, emissions calculation, and data reporting. Error rates of 10% in data collection compound into worse error in the CDP report. Garbage in, garbage out.
